Apple Search Ads Firstly Appears on iOS 11 --- Amazing New Points

Recently, a big event happens in Apple App Store---Apple search ads firstly appears in iOS 11 beta, which means that search ads are compatible with iOS 11.

Apple’s personnel told us: the search ads are only available in the newest iOS 11 beta of America and will be found in the UK, Australia and the New Zealand gradually. Appbi Data has analyzed the new version timely, finding many amazing points!

Last month, during the WWDC, Apple said that App Store will have a new look firstly. The introduction of the new features and the comparison with the old one has swept the Internet.

1.   Same display form in search result

The newest App Store unifies the app screenshots as three screenshots. At before, various apps display two screenshots. The unified display style makes App Store neat and pretty and is very friendly to OCD users. This change unifies the display form of search result and ad, making it looks uniform and merged.

Besides, the three-screenshot form makes users get more knowledge of apps. More knowledge means more easiness. When users get interested to the app, they are more likely to clicking “GET”.

2.   Brand protection

Brand protection is added in App Store. It means that though other developers can carry a spanand name as campaigned keyword and bid successfully. In the search result, it will show the spanand page of its company. The appearance of spanand page has solved the problem of spanand protection. But it displays under the app ad. In other words, the existence of spanand protection will not influence the effect of search ads.

As the picture shows, when entering “amazon” in the search box, the ad will show at the top. (this app has campaigned the word). Along with the ad is Amazon’s spanand page with “DEVELOPER”. And if you click the page, it will skip to a page showing all the apps that developed by Amazon and applied for various Apple devices. The page includes “Latest Release”, “App”, “Apple Watch” and “Apple TV”.

As Appbi tested, on the one hand, the words which are famous spanand names will lead to spanand pages, such as “Facebook”, “Amazon” and “Apple”, etc. On the other hand, some certain words will lead to the spanands related to them, for example, when enter “word” or “powerpoint” will show the spanand page of Microsoft Corporation.

Then if developers need to apply for spanand pages or will App Store itself has the option to choose? No official information is told about it, but Appbi thinks it’s up to App Store. If we get the information of the conditions and processes of spanand pages, we will share with you timely.

3.   A category word leads to a category page

When types a category word of App Store, like “Utilities” and “Education”, a CATEGORY page will be showed in the search result. Click it, it will show the Top 3 apps (Top Paid and Top Free) of this category.

Note:

Type “Games” will not lead to a category page, but it works for all the other category words as Appbi tested. Apple’s personnel told us that it is designed for the support of search ads.

As Appbi data monitored, games account for the most (about 25%) of search ads. So the category page doesn’t work for Games. It can avoid many developers try hard to get their apps top in charts.

4.   A right angle is changed to a circular one

In the iOS 11 beta, all screenshots of apps have been changed from right angles to circular ones.

For both hardware products and software product, the design of circular angle has gradually become a trend because from the point of vision our eyes are more likely to accepting rounded rectangles. Also, Apple designed as this to provide better user experience.

5.   Change of background of App product page

The app product page of the newest App Store has changed. Its background has been changed from colorful to white. It is designed to highlight the rating and rank, making all information clear.

Also, in the product page, a little surprise will show to you if you slide down the page: the cover at the top will be magnified. The old version doesn’t have such feature.
